I’ve always been fascinated by Time and indeed am a watch collector of many years and it’s nice every so often to manage to combine my two passions – watches and Art.
The sheer artistry, imagination and form function that we all take for granted strapped to one’s wrist is something that maybe each of use should take a minute and just have a look. Here I’m not talking about the modern quartz watch, but the mechanical movement types – the ones that tick! – Where the second hand sweeps around the dial and not in second jumps.
Here is a representation of a beautiful Breguet ladies watch – the “De La Reine” model of some years ago, showing the sweeping elegance of the Mother-of-Pearl dial face and stylised numerals, the famous Breguet hour and minutes hands – no seconds hand on this one, but look in the back and what wonders are there displayed in all their glory – truly showing the passing of time – tick by tick…….
A short post I know – but I have others to follow – so watch (sorry) this space. . . . . . . . . .
