Been a while since I managed a still life subject and from memory that last one I did was an image of some stuff we had sitting in a display cabinet in the house. Well believe it or not I’ve done it again! Maybe this is indicative of someone who’s not getting out enough! Anyway I call this “Ice shelf”. . . .
A simple image really of silver topped glass and crystal scent and toilet bottles, plus a couple of “art bottles” and all sitting on a glass shelf in a wooden display cabinet. Pleased with the overall color which fits well with my “Touch of Blue” project Gallery I have on my bosartisartgallery.com web site.
Unlike many still life works where the artist spends some time usually arranging and rearranging the items for best light, balance and so on, here I managed this just as they were on the shelf – no more no less.
Kept the brush work to a minimum so as not to distract from the shapes of the items themselves, but boosted the tones and colors to best highlight the “ice” effect I wanted for the overall paint.
Still working on the “Impressionist” paintings idea and hopefully should have something to show for it in the not too distant future.
