A new painting of a street scene in Vernon, France – showing the Collegiate Church of Notre Dame and some of the oldest buildings from the 15th Century. The wonderful light of this part of Normandy make you want to paint – especially when you consider Monet used to paint this area many time in his career.
Slightly different brushwork used on this cityscape showing a wonderful street in Edinburgh. Used plenty color to set the picture off as so often I find Edinburgh is a one color place 0wing to the amount of sandstone used in it’s construction. In this picture I also purposely left in the cars to give a contemporary looks unlike the Vernon painting which just had to depict just the old buildings and not the march of progress.
Both illustrations are taken from photographs I took myself and from which I managed these styles. I used a similar software technique on both which I find more illustrative than painting and so useful for books and magazines articles. I wouldn’t consider these for wall hanging as they I think maybe are too poster like as well.
But great fun to do and I’m sure I may do some more in the future.
