Been playing with fractals on some of my original photographs and art images.  Most interesting medium, fractals, as the algorithms used seem to almost pull out what’s lying deep inside the image, whether by luck or design. and quite extraordinary. Here are some examples I managed recently.

River red

The above is from an original photograph of a river flowing over rocks.  The red pigment just a natural result of the minerals in the water. But the fractal filter used here pulls out more perhaps then in the image at first glance.

Shoals

A simple image of a fisherman going out into the lake.  What lies beneath and not seen on the photograph are perhaps flashes of the fish shoals he glides over? Whatever, the wonderful deep blues of the water against the boat make this image so much more interesting than the original photograph for me.

Spars

The wonderful effect of sunlight shining through and between the keel spars of a boat just being built.  Not perhaps showing anything here other than a wonderful colored design. The wood spars were just that – sun dried wooden timbers.  But now a fascinating image.

Fractals are great fun and certainly give ideas for any artist to expound on in future work I’m sure.
