One of the cities of Europe that I love, amongst a few others I have to say, is Lucerne in north central Switzerland. Here a few art views managed in a relatively free brush style. Not quite poster-style but quite similar. First a view of the riverside cafe’s.
Another view this time from further out looking back to the old town frontage, showing faintly on the left the bridge from which the first picture was managed.
And finally a more scenic view of the town which is shown here mounted ready for framing.
I’ve put together over the past few years quite a few photographs, paintings and sketches of this wonderful town, one of my favorite haunts. It is also such an easy place to get to and the rail system is so good that almost anywhere in Europe is reachable without stress. In this lovely little city there are many historic houses to be seen which are often decorated with frescoes and these feature in the town squares and especially in the ‘Weinmarkt’ square in the old town. The many, many squares in Lucerne are great places to chill out and perhaps get the sketch book out and just let the atmosphere direct your pencil.
My favorite area is, as always of course, the old town and when in Lucerne in my opinion the only place to stay – can’t wait to go back.
