Strasbourg city center – always a buzz for me as there are so many people milling around and dominated by the cathedral and old style European buildings rising either side of the streets, I find it a very exciting place to be. It’s also a very lovely city with so much water – almost a Venice as people say.
Here I used a high contrast heavy brush approach with saturated colors throughout – the image here doesn’t really do the picture justice – I recommend you click on the image to see it at much larger resolution on your screen.
I have quite a few paintings and illustrations of Strasbourg and I often find myself trawling through the images as there is so much more to see every time you look – so involved is each scene that individually they hold great interest for me, both as a people watcher and an artist.

Nice painting…the view looks almost exactly like a street called ‘ the shambles’ in York, England…in fact that’s what I thought it was until I read it was Starsbourg. York is also an inspirational place for art and artists.
Your work is amazing!
