Playing around with sketch and paint – this is the progression.
Initial sketch
Basically using the sketch effect underneath I can add whatever paint elements I wish – here I’m using an oil style brush set to highlight and replicate the original color photograph and using fairly heavy brush work to give added depth to the work.
Rough paint
With the rough paint colors added quickly the original sketch work has albeit disappeared, though on the canvas it actually can still be seen so the next part is easier than it looks from these images.
Just about there
Decisions, decisions – should I manage a bit more and bring in added detail or simply leave as is – more impressionist and looks OK from normal viewing distance, so I may leave it as it is for now. I always have the option of altering it in the future should I change my mind.
More definition and finished.
Well that didn’t take long – My wife saw it and said more detail would be nice! So bowing to her wants I’ve brought just a little more detail to the fore.
I think probably in retrospect, and OK I admit it – it does look better, but don’t say I said so – please!
