Been quite busy lately with paintings and sketches especially of the times I was in France where I have a little bolthole when things get too depressing here. Then I can indulge in traveling around and the light is so good in so many places in France and especially Burgundy, it is a perfect environment for the artist and photographer.

This time, once again in the Rhone and Burgundy regions and from the photograph shown at the end, I then produced a picture in an illustrative style, which is what I used to do at one time. Usually I would put this at the beginning of a chapter in an illustrated book or a magazine article. You will note that I didn’t include the church in the final picture as it distracted from the effect I wanted and I also wanted to feather off the edges of the picture anyway.
Also the colors of this part of France is so noticeable as is the tradition of lavender and the lavender fields, that is Blue or the many variations of that color, I noticed a house with the familiar blue shutters and here it is.

Done in an almost Poster style I kept it relatively simple and it will always remind me of the blue of Provence, Burgundy and the Rhone and such a nice idea of decoration of any house. Of course where I live we rarely have such things but it’s so nice to see and does add so much color into what here is often a very drab landscape.
