As I seem to be on the wildlife run at the moment here is another one of those wonderful creatures that can sit quietly and study what’s going on. This a Sitka Deer (I think) in India and I remember it was one of those times when you are perhaps aware there’s a presence – then looking behind you in the tall grass and woodland scrub and virtually hidden – there it is.

Serenity

Such a wonderful color and whilst you might think that it was not what you might call a camouflage – well you would be wrong. It is the most subtle of dappled browns and blond flashes which so perfectly blends into it’s homeland background.

There are many of these in the Nature Parks and Reserves of India and you may be forgiven if on one such trip to say “Oh not another Deer”. But you should look closer at these lovely creatures and wonder – look at those large soft eyes, that long and noble nose, those fabulous large ears turned towards you to hear everything you say – such beauty should be treasured for who knows what tomorrow brings?

Apologies to those who noticed this was almost a re-post of a previous entry featuring the same image – I don’t often do that – maybe a sign of getting old!
