Some painted views of scenes I’ve fiddled with for some time. Some with complicated color tones and often over-detailed perhaps, but interesting to do nevertheless.
The first one is a view from the City of Pert over the River Tay towards Bridgend and highlights the wonderful autumn colors.
This is a gull sitting on a parapet on the river wall overlooking the exact spot the above picture is viewed from, towards the church on the other side. Started life as a sketch and a photograph and use to paint this image.
Another earlier version of the same original sketch -
Quite a few times arise when on a river bank for all sorts of sketches or photo opportunities come up and it always helps that the little notebook sketch pad with the old rubber band around is carried
somewhere in an inside pocket and ready to hand. I seem to recall that I did think about getting a collection of these old sketches and notes and compiling them into a short book just for fun as I must hand hundreds of them lying around in folders here and there.
Maybe a project for the future.
